CeeBT – Continuing Education for European Biology Teachers

Teachers Workshops consisting of scientific talks from the forefront of research, hands-on experiments, exhibitions of teaching resources, discussions on improving biology education and integrating ethical and societal considerations into classroom teaching. Workshops are organised at institutes across Europe.

In the LearningLAB, science school teachers can attend practical laboratory courses that cover cutting-edge research topics and methods.

The LearningLAB also runs a visitors programme for scientists and science educators that want to work with teachers, develop teaching material and education programmes.

The TeachingBASE provides an online archive for outstanding science teaching material, offers general information related to science education initiatives throughout the world and serves as communication and exchange forum for science educators.


	Continuing Education for European Biology Teachers (CeeBT) ran from March 2003 to February 2005. EMBO is continuing to host the EMBO practical workshops for science teachers and The European Learning Laboratory for the Life Sciences (ELLS) at EMBL continues to run LearningLABs and host the TeachingBASE. Updates of the resources on the CeeBT TeachingBASE can be found on the ELLS web site.

	CeeBT is part of the growing education activities co-ordinated or organised by the European Molecular Biology Organization as part of its European Network for Biology Education. The EMBO educational resource database, and the EMBO Science and Society database are developed under the EMBO Science and Society Programme to provide access to teaching resources and public information on molecular biology and related disciplines from an international collection of sources.
